French Phrase for the day

métro boulot dodo

train work sleep

If you have spent any time in France, you will no doubt have heard this phrase slip off the tongues of tired looking people! Three words that say it all -- commute, work and sleep -- three words that probably enjoy their own colloquial phrase no matter where you find yourself in the world!

But -- in typical gallic fashion, they omit to mention the reviving cup of strong coffee on the way to the train station, the delicious lingering and leisurely meal with friends at lunch time, possibly a quick fleeting and intense rendez-vous with a loved one on the way back to work from lunch during the 'l'heure de la maitresse', the apero with a colleague in the bistro on the corner on the way to the train station ...

But then -- all work and no play makes Jacques a dull boy, n'est-ce pas?
