Last night at Chateau Lalinde, the entire chateau came to life when we hosted a Russian Soirée, with an exhibition of Oleg Goucoff's stunning paintings providing the backdrop to the enchanting music of Julia Averjanova, accompanied by Wolfgang Sceel on the mandolin. The champagne flowed, the vodka-in-flowers-and-ice looked superb and not since the decadent soirées of the Romanovs was there that much caviar on offer.
Originally the plan was to have no more than about thirty people, but the evening proved to be so popular that more than sixty people were here to enjoy the most exquisite evening -- the guests a true pot pourri of nationalities --- from Denmark, Hungary, France, Scotland, New Zealand, United States, Spain, Sweden, South Africa, Britain -- and more.
The enthusiastic request was that this be repeated again - and soon! -- so -- watch this space!
