Cannes kicked off its annual 12 day frenzy of star-studded premieres, parties and provocative arthouse films with a gala screening of the Ridley Scott's blockbuster "Robin Hood."
Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, the two stars, shone on the red carpet of Cannes last night. Blanchett joked that "I always wanted to be Robin Hood rather than Maid Marian but the part was taken." But if the trailer is anything to go by, then this newest bloody, muddy version of the much-loved legend of Robin Hood, which presents Robin as a repentant soldier returning from the Crusades in the Middle East to defend a disunited England against the invading French, is going to be a hit with young and old.
For these twelve days, the eyes of the world are on France. The Cannes Film Festival attracts visitors from all over the world and is an exciting week of deal-making, networking, posing and strutting, glitz and glamour.
